065: Marriage; Should I Stay or Should I go? | Holly Christie

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we’ll be discussing the huge decision of stepping away from a broken marriage and becoming a solo parent.

053: Navigating the Complexities of Your Clan and Your Career | Fay Wallis

Our strengths come so naturally to us that usually we dismiss them

[Fay Wallis]

Life isn’t always straightforward. Blended families are now common-place. Women have careers to juggle as well as the kids. There’s so much to think about and so much to juggle that it’s hard to know what to focus on first.

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we’ll be discussing blended families, forging a career you love and how to stay on top of work and home.

My guest today is SuperMum, Fay Wallis.

Fay lives in Greater London, with her husband, Ian and their sons who are 10 and 5 years. Fay’s blended family is a labyrinth, spanning two generations. Her parents having been married 4 times, she has two half siblings, two full siblings and 2 step siblings. This helped Fay to negotiate the logistics of parenting children with vast age ranges and different needs. For when she married Ian, he too had children from his first marriage, and she became a step-mother herself.

Whilst juggling the logistics of organising Sunday lunches and enough birthday and Christmas presents to serve a small army, Fay forged a successful career in HR. She later trained to become a Career Coach, helping people to access the tools to empower themselves to lead a fulfilling working life.

Fay will help us navigate the maze of returning to work, changing career and spending quality time with family, all whilst finding enough time to look after herself too.

I am excited to welcome Fay to my show today where she will tell us all about her busy life and empower you to live the career and home lives you deserve.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • How Fay balances a busy schedule of family events whilst running her own business
  • Fay’s advice for re-entering the work place after a career break
  • How to make your network work for you both, personally and professionally
  • Fitting quality time in with all family members when they are at different stages with different needs
  • Time management in your career without being thought of as ‘slacking’
  • What inspired Fay to launch her own business
  • Managing your employers and colleagues expectations

 Hope you enjoy todays show!

Tell me what you think?

If you want to leave a comment for Fay, whether it’s about the practicalities of blending many branches and generations of family; or how to handle a return to work and have a rewarding career, then we’d love you to come and say hello.

And let us know in the comments;

Are you from a blended family? How do you manage your career and family?

049: Empower Yourself So You Can Empower Your Children | Christine Watts

Make peace with the mirror and watch the reflection change

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? A confident, strong and empowered woman, or a tired and frazzled wreck?

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday you’ll learn that, how you view yourself as a women and as a mother, is a strong reflection to your children upon which they base their own behaviours.

My guest today is SuperMum, Christine Watts.

Christine and her husband live in rural Victoria, Australia, and have three daughters in their twenties. She’s an experienced teacher who has taught all age groups, and was a founding member of a Steiner school.

Christine now works with children, parents and teachers to help children build confidence, have high self esteem, create physical awareness and develop emotional intelligence.

Christine believes that it’s not the words you say to your children that really matters, but who you reveal yourself to be. How you choose to behave, to act, and to express yourself as a mother, has a direct impact on your children because they follow the lead of your example.

Christine encourages you to use innovation, creativity and imagination as the basis for raising happy, healthy and confident children. By doing so, this empowers our little ones to be the greatest version of themselves and enables them to create a brilliant world for themselves.

Which means, of course, a brilliant world for you too.

I am excited to welcome Christine to my show today because she’ll introduce you to using your own values and core beliefs to model the behaviours you want your children to mirror.

In this episode, you’ll find out:

  • Why with our children, how you behave is more important than the words you say
  • How you can create good behaviour for yourself so your children will copy
  • Why your children should still mirror your actions, even when you’re really cross
  • What the most important focus in your role as a mother should be
  • Why taking care of yourself should come above everything else
  • The 3 doorways to raising amazing young people
  • Why gratitude is important, even on our worst days
  • How you can stop being so busy and start slowing down

 Hope you enjoy todays show!

048: Struggling to Find Someone to Turn To? Try Yourself | Lisa York

If you make friends with yourself, you’ll always have a friend

You’ve probably had moments where you hit rock bottom. I know I have.

You feel that if one more thing goes wrong, you’ll surely snap. And that’s all part of the job description when you’re a mum.

But who do you turn to?

Your husband. Your best friend. Your mum. Your sister.

Of course. They’re there to support you. But

A key person you can turn to, is you.

This week on High Five Friday, I talk about being your own best friend and your own greatest advocate.

044: Screen time; Friend or Foe? | Lisa York

Let’s Talk About Tech, Baby
[Salt-n-Pepa]

We all know that too much screen time isn’t good for our children. I’m talking video games, watching TV, using the computer or tapping away on a tablet.

Give them a device your children turn into tech-zombies. But boy, suddenly the house becomes an oasis of calm and quiet.

And you let out a huge sigh of relief.

Swiftly followed by an extra-large helping of mum-guilt that their tech usage has spiralled completely out of control.

But is all that screen gazing ever a good thing?

This week on High Five Friday, I talk about whether screen time is your friend or foe

Tell me what you think?

Do your children have too much screen time, or have you already trained them to amuse themselves? If so, how did you manage that???

I’d love to hear your story in the comments.
