Motherhood comes with a raft of challenges. I’ve never been pushed to the limit as much as I have since becoming a mum. I thought I was a pretty tough cookie, but motherhood can hit you like a ton of bricks.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of reaching out and asking for help. That’s why I invited Dr Rebecca Moore onto my show today.
Becca is a mum of two and lives in London, UK. She’s a birth trauma expert specialising in perinatal mental health, and works for the NHS as well in her own private practice. She writes and lectures widely on the topic and hosts an annual birth trauma conference in London every year.
In this episode we talk frankly and deeply about many of the, often unspoken, dark issues of motherhood. PTSD, anxiety, depression, miscarriage, loneliness and suicide. We share our stories and personal experiences and Becca offers a glimmer of light to mums who are currently struggling through difficult times.
Whether you’re a mum who has already come through tough times, are currently suffering, or know someone who is, this is an important episode. We need to bring these issues to light so women know they’re not alone and that there is a pathway through to better times if they can summons the confidence to reach out for help.
