Staying positive can be a challenge in the frantic world of motherhood. But like all busy mums, she’s trying.
Lisa lives in Sydney, Australia with her hubby and their four primary-school-aged kids.
I’m so glad to hear it Kelly. Good for you. It makes us a much better person / wife / mother doesn’t it! P.S. Sorry for my slow reply, I’ve only just spotted your comment – thank you so much for it x
Thank you Monica!! So are you. We’re all trying our best, hey x
Hi Lisa!!!
I just want to say, you really are a super mum!! I’ll definitely be taking your advice xxx
Hi Damijana, Yes, that’s an interesting one when we’re forced to slow down. Being on holiday is another good example of making promises to ourselves. The hard part is making it stick when we get back! Good luck! Hope your leg gets better soon, and you enjoy being looked after for a change!! Lisa x
Hi,
Extremly good advice! Since I’m in bed with my leg broken, I can stick to this. I’m wondering if this will be possible after I’m back in normal routine and overwhelming situation.
Good for you! I hope you managed to get in those guilt-free swims. They’re ruined if they’re laced with guilt, so swim away safe in the knowledge that you’ll be a MUCH better mum when you return to your brood x
Hi Lisa
This was perfect timing for me, I tend not to do things for myself and then when I do I feel guilty!
My aim for next week is to get to the swimming pool twice! I haven’t managed once in the last 6 weeks! Xx
Hi Amanda,
Great to hear from you and welcome to the SuperMum community. Good for you for scheduling in some time for yourself – it’s really difficult to find time but keep on trying, even when you fall off the wagon!!
Lisa x
Hi Lisa! Thanks for the reminder and what a great way to start the new year scheduling in some “me time” looking forward to your next video.
Amanda xx
Hope you enjoy the rest of the series Laurie x
Thanks for the reminder Lisa!
Thank you so much Lulu! I’m really glad to be of help. Let me know where I can find your blog, I’d love to have a read. God bless and keep up your amazing work in the world x
Hi Lisa,
I’ve been listening to your podcasts for a few months now and I am learning so much. I’m a young mum/wife of a growing family, Christian, blogger, entrepreneur and teacher. I still have a lot to learn but so loving the journey and internal growth that comes from just going for it. Thank you for giving the world Supermum. Xx
It takes real effort to carve out some ‘me’ time, so I’m so happy to hear you have! Great work Kelly! Hope you enjoy the rest of the videos,
Lisa x
Hi Lisa.
I’ve just joined this hub and I totally agree with what you said. I think as a mother you forget yourself and who you were before having the children. The real you gets put on the back burner and now you’re just mummy. So yes you should take time out from being mother and spend time actually being yourself. I take time out to go to the gym and do fitness classes in the evenings whilst the husband is at home with the children and my actual name is used!!!! So being in the next 8 videos. Xx
Hello Helen, A huge warm welcome!! Great to see you here. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series, Lisa x
Hi Lisa, I’m a newbie to this wonderful community. Really looking forward to the next 8 Supermum Doesn’t Do videos. Thank you for the positivity and support.

Hello Priya,
Great to meet you and sorry to hear you feel professionally unfulfilled.
I did an amazing interview with Victoria Labalme which you should check out 041: How to Make a Virtue Out of Uncertainty . You might feel like you are ‘wandering’ professionally, but that could be a good thing. Better to be inconsistent in your profession than being stuck in one that you hate. In the Show Notes of that episode, there’s a link to Victoria’s TED Talk which is a great place to start.
After that, the episode with Nikki Smith, 035: Seek Out Your Strengths and Discover the Best Possible You is brilliant. She’s a career coach who focuses helping people find fulfilling careers based on their strengths.
I hope that helps and good luck!

Hi Lisa,
Priya here. I always feel guilty for not having a consistent profession. I have never been happy even after having a kid because of that reason. Plz help
Welcome Jodi! Great to see you here. I’m glad you enjoyed it – hope you enjoy the rest xx
Hi Lisa! It was great to see you “live and in person!” Your message totally resonates and is in line with what I do with my Moms Who Dare™. I wish I knew the importance of Self-Care when my kids were younger. Thanks and look forward to the next video.
I know!! I need my reminders too. Knowing it in theory is great, but actually finding that time is much harder!! I struggle too. Thanks for saying hi Aska. I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos x
I’m only learning now how important self-care is and how much it influences everything else. But this is something I regularly lose, my self-care routine. So I need your reminders Lisa
Hello Hayley, Thanks for stopping by to say hello. Brilliant article but the way, and what an amazing mum you are bringing up your little boy as a solo parent from day one. I can’t imagine how it must have felt for your relationship to have ended so soon before giving birth, but well done you for staying so positive. Lisa x
Thanks for this important lesson. I started doing this instinctively, I knew my life or sense of self couldn’t stop just because I had a baby. I wrote a post about not losing yourself in motherhood here: https://mumodyssey.wordpress.com/2017/04/26/new-mums-dont-lose-who-you-are/
You’re so welcome Judy. I hope you enjoy the rest of the video series
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for all the encouragement to be the best mum you can be.
Judy
Absolutely! Our mummy superpowers work better when we fill up our own tank first!
Well done! Go to the top of the class!
So, I nearly didn’t leave a message as I didn’t have time Instead, here I am because I made time. Loving the glass of wine! We miss you all. Big hugs xxx
Love this! Don’t try and be a hero!
Ha Ha!! Turn up the volume!!!
Brilliant! I’ll casually play the video whilst my husband is in the room… :)
I know! Me too! It’s magical when you do though hey!
Thanks Claire! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. I’m having fun making it! Lisa x
Thanks Lisa! It took me a while to learn that lesson, to take care of oneself first so that you are better equipped to take care of others. Very important!
Hi Lisa! I just want to say a massive thank you for all that you do. Your podcast is brilliant. I am excited to watch your video series! Thank you!
Huge thanks for your wonderful feedback Dyan, and I’m so glad that I can help. I really hope you enjoy the rest of the video series and please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with. Lisa x
Thanks so much for sharing this Lisa! I stumbled upon your podcast channel whilst in the state of desperation wondering if I was the only mum out there struggling with the things that I do. Your podcasts and videos have brought a lot of clarity and validation to the emotions and thoughts that I had that was muddled with the exhaustion of looking after a new baby. Thank you for all your efforts in creating this community where mothers can come to and feel NORMAL! Love your work!
