Having a successful career takes energy, drive and determination. Long hours, a heavy work load and the pressure to say yes to everything can be overwhelming. But when you become a parent and throw children into the mix, combining work and parenthood can start to really swamp you. But you don’t want to give either up.

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday you’ll discover a way through that fog. Because it’s possible to be committed, not only to your family, but to keeping your career alive.

My guest today is SuperMum, Sarah Argenal.

Sarah and her husband, Joey live in San Diego, California. They have a 3 year old boy Beckett, and are expecting their second son in June. After becoming a mum, Sarah found the demands of working in Corporate Litigation alongside juggling family life to be exhausting and overwhelming. So she started a futile quest for help and information. But there was nothing out there.

She knew that something had to change, if not only for herself, but for the many other corporate parents who wanted to keep a firm foothold in both worlds.  After hundreds of hours of research, Sarah created her own support system and founded the Working Parent Resource.

Sarah offers her community of like-minded working mums and dads reliable information and practical training to help them successfully manage their career and home life. Her Frazzled to Balanced™ Bootcamp “helps ambitious working parents slow down and reclaim their time so they can focus on what matters most.”

Today Sarah shares her journey of navigating her corporate career; keeping her relationships alive and her home life happy; and being the best mum she can possibly be. All whilst helping other parents figure out how to have it all too. 

I’m delighted to have Sarah on my show today as she’ll teach you how to manage your time, conserve your energy; take time out to recharge and focus on you; AND achieve a happy balance between home and work.

032: 5 Practical Tips for Busy Mums to Get More Sleep

Let me sleep, for when I wake I will move mountains

From the last weeks of our first pregnancy, the sleep deficit begins. And so to, a taste of things to come. 

For me, that was over seven years ago. And as much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I haven’t had a full eight hours since. 

Self inflicted admittedly. I’m not pregnant, don’t have a newborn and my kids sleep like angels. 

But oh! That precious golden time once the kids are in bed. The day is done, the jobs are finished (at least for now) and the house is quiet. 

ME TIME!!! Yippee 

Why would I want to give that up to go to bed?

But how well is the lack of Zzzzzz’s serving me? 

In this weeks episode of The Friday Café, Michelle Dawson and I talk about sleep, how a lack of sleep affects our mothering, and what we can do about it.

This weeks challenge:

My challenge for this week is to consider how much quality sleep you’re getting and what steps you can take to get a little more.
I’m in this challenge right alongside you, because I battle it too. Its difficult I know because that pocket of ‘me’ time is so elusive.
But if you can conquer it, your awake time will be far more productive, and you’ll also notice that you’re better able to move mountains when you’re fully rested. So don’t see sleep as time wasted.
