055: Why Are You Doing What You’re Doing? | Joss Hobson

You are confined only by the walls you build yourself

It’s easy to limit yourself to something short of your true potential. That’s because as mums, we have a huge amount of pressure with everything else that life throws at us. But although we have to fight longer and harder, that shouldn’t stop us achieving the things we want.

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we’ll be discussing our individual glass ceilings, the importance of speaking to ourselves with love, and what the heck Theta Healing is.

My guest today is SuperMum, Joss Hobson.

Joss, who lives in New Zealand with her two teenage children, trained as a Clinical Psychologist. However, she didn’t feel her work took her to the deepest parts of human thoughts and behaviour that she craved. But when she stumbled upon Theta Healing, she found it to be the building block to connecting the body, brain and soul.

Joss became a Theta Healing Practitioner and soon had a year-long waiting list of clients. This incredible demand helped her realise that her time would be much better spent teaching and mentoring Theta Healing practitioners so she should spread the message more widely.

She now works with people, helping them reach the deepest roots of who they are, and releasing blocks so they can lead present, fulfilling lives. And she will do the same for you today.

I am excited to welcome Joss to my show today where she will tell us her thoughts on raising children, help us to ask ‘Where is the love in that?’ and help us eradicate our limiting beliefs.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Why negative self talk is so harmful and how you should be speaking to yourself
  • Why the simple practice of asking yourself, ‘Where is the love in that?’ can be so beneficial
  • Limiting beliefs; what they are, how to recognise them and how to overcome them
  • How to break through your individual mummy glass ceiling
  • How to think positive thoughts and find virtues in all that you do
  • Why it’s important to recognise the wisdom in your children, rather than focusing on their behaviour

  Hope you enjoy todays show!

Tell me what you think?

I’d love to hear from you with your opinion of Theta Healing. So if you’d like to leave a comment for me or Joss we’d love you to come and say hello.

And let us know in the comments;

Are you guilty of speaking to yourself without love? Are you ready to challenge your limiting beliefs?

054: Who am I? Finding Your Lost Identity | Lauren Wills

Who are you? asked the Caterpillar. I hardly know, sir …. I know who I WAS … but I think I must have changed.
[Lewis Carroll]

Motherhood, as you know, is a hugely transitional time. And in the fog of raising kids, it’s possible to completely loose the sense of who you are in all of this.

But exhale, because research shows that this is completely normal. And it’s OK. Because it’s all part of an evolving process.

You won’t feel lost forever.

This week on High Five Friday, I ask mum of two Lauren Wills, who is a PhD candidate studying the well-being of pre-school mothers, to explain how and why our identity changes when we become a mum.

053: Navigating the Complexities of Your Clan and Your Career | Fay Wallis

Our strengths come so naturally to us that usually we dismiss them

[Fay Wallis]

Life isn’t always straightforward. Blended families are now common-place. Women have careers to juggle as well as the kids. There’s so much to think about and so much to juggle that it’s hard to know what to focus on first.

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we’ll be discussing blended families, forging a career you love and how to stay on top of work and home.

My guest today is SuperMum, Fay Wallis.

Fay lives in Greater London, with her husband, Ian and their sons who are 10 and 5 years. Fay’s blended family is a labyrinth, spanning two generations. Her parents having been married 4 times, she has two half siblings, two full siblings and 2 step siblings. This helped Fay to negotiate the logistics of parenting children with vast age ranges and different needs. For when she married Ian, he too had children from his first marriage, and she became a step-mother herself.

Whilst juggling the logistics of organising Sunday lunches and enough birthday and Christmas presents to serve a small army, Fay forged a successful career in HR. She later trained to become a Career Coach, helping people to access the tools to empower themselves to lead a fulfilling working life.

Fay will help us navigate the maze of returning to work, changing career and spending quality time with family, all whilst finding enough time to look after herself too.

I am excited to welcome Fay to my show today where she will tell us all about her busy life and empower you to live the career and home lives you deserve.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • How Fay balances a busy schedule of family events whilst running her own business
  • Fay’s advice for re-entering the work place after a career break
  • How to make your network work for you both, personally and professionally
  • Fitting quality time in with all family members when they are at different stages with different needs
  • Time management in your career without being thought of as ‘slacking’
  • What inspired Fay to launch her own business
  • Managing your employers and colleagues expectations

 Hope you enjoy todays show!

Tell me what you think?

If you want to leave a comment for Fay, whether it’s about the practicalities of blending many branches and generations of family; or how to handle a return to work and have a rewarding career, then we’d love you to come and say hello.

And let us know in the comments;

Are you from a blended family? How do you manage your career and family?

049: Empower Yourself So You Can Empower Your Children | Christine Watts

Make peace with the mirror and watch the reflection change

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? A confident, strong and empowered woman, or a tired and frazzled wreck?

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday you’ll learn that, how you view yourself as a women and as a mother, is a strong reflection to your children upon which they base their own behaviours.

My guest today is SuperMum, Christine Watts.

Christine and her husband live in rural Victoria, Australia, and have three daughters in their twenties. She’s an experienced teacher who has taught all age groups, and was a founding member of a Steiner school.

Christine now works with children, parents and teachers to help children build confidence, have high self esteem, create physical awareness and develop emotional intelligence.

Christine believes that it’s not the words you say to your children that really matters, but who you reveal yourself to be. How you choose to behave, to act, and to express yourself as a mother, has a direct impact on your children because they follow the lead of your example.

Christine encourages you to use innovation, creativity and imagination as the basis for raising happy, healthy and confident children. By doing so, this empowers our little ones to be the greatest version of themselves and enables them to create a brilliant world for themselves.

Which means, of course, a brilliant world for you too.

I am excited to welcome Christine to my show today because she’ll introduce you to using your own values and core beliefs to model the behaviours you want your children to mirror.

In this episode, you’ll find out:

  • Why with our children, how you behave is more important than the words you say
  • How you can create good behaviour for yourself so your children will copy
  • Why your children should still mirror your actions, even when you’re really cross
  • What the most important focus in your role as a mother should be
  • Why taking care of yourself should come above everything else
  • The 3 doorways to raising amazing young people
  • Why gratitude is important, even on our worst days
  • How you can stop being so busy and start slowing down

 Hope you enjoy todays show!

043: Reclaim You; How to Reignite your Passion, Power and Purpose | Sally Thibault

With experience comes wisdom

[Sally Thibault]

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we’ll be talking about how to rediscover a new passion, power and purpose in your life to create meaningful success and a purposeful balance in your life.

My guest today is SuperMum, Sally Thibault.

Sally has three adult children, one of whom is autistic, and lives on the Gold Coast of Australia with her husband of 35 years to the day. Sally is a professional Keynote Speaker, the author of two books, and a certified Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also a Women’s Success Mentor and facilitates the Reclaim You programs.

With over 35 years experience in the Health and Wellness Industry, Sally has been featured extensively in Australian national and local media and is currently the Health and Wellness Expert on a Queensland national radio programme.

As the mother of adult children, Sally gives us her benefit of hindsight and perspective on raising children, and she shares with us how she overcame many of the obstacles of motherhood.

It wasn’t an easy journey, having three children, one with Aspergers Syndrome, as well as managing her career.

Over the years, Sally has learned about the true meaning of purpose, parenting and living in the present. She believes the patterns of the past hold the solutions to what you want in the future. Today Sally will help us make sense of those patterns in order to follow through with the intentions you have set, and create success in your life as a mum.

I’m so happy to have Sally on my show today. She has so much wisdom to share from a mum who’s been there in the trenches. She’s here to share the strength and positivity she gained from her experiences throughout her mothering years.

In this episode, you’ll find out:

  • How raising a child living with autism was both the worst and the best times of Sally’s life
  • The true meaning of purpose, parenting and living in the present
  • How the Energy Psychology technique of Tapping can change your life
  • How Tapping (EFT) allowed Sally to make sense of why she always walked away from success
  • Why only 8% of people who set intentions achieve them and why
  • The 6-step success strategy that is a powerful guidepost for achieving success
  • How the patterns of your past hold the solution to what you want in life
  • Why Sally believes that many women are being called to step up into leadership…urgently

038: The Immense Benefit of Kids Doing Chores, Despite Your Frustration

If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself

[Henry Ford]

Kids, can you help me clear up the dinner table please?

Guys, did you hear me?

Would you mind helping to clear up?

Hey, I’m speaking to you.

Come and help clear up.

How many times do I have to ask?

Kids! Come and clear up the dinner table.

N O W!!!

Getting kids to help with the chores is painful to say the least. In fact, given the choice, pulling out my teeth with rusty pliers seems like a good option.

But getting your brood to help around the house is not only beneficial to them, it’s beneficial to you.

It will test your patience to the max, but you’ll reap the rewards in the long-run.

In this weeks episode of The Friday Café, Michelle Dawson and I talk about the benefits of getting your kids to help around the house, and how as the mum, you can program your own mind to achieve it.

Click to Listen:

Subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher

This weeks challenge:

My challenge for this week is pick off one small job that your child can do to help around the house. This might be the first time they’ve had anything asked of them, or it could be that you’re gradually adding to whatever they already do.
Either way, keep it small and simple, so no-one gets overloaded. Most of all though, think about the feasibility what you’ll be asking them to do carefully before you take action. Once you go for it, you’ll need to be consistent.
Oh, and you’ll need a bucket load of patience.

Tell me what you think?

Tell me in the comments. What job did you get your child to do? Did they kick up a fuss, or just get on with it?

Michelle and I are here to spur you on and help you as much as possible

Hope you enjoy the show.

Now, Go Conquer Motherhood!
